Hola amigos,
Yep, this wonderful trip is definitively over now and I am back on my Dutch feet again... unfortunately I have to say........All good things do come to an end at all...but if anyone knows a job in Buenos Aires, please let me know :)
I will give you a short update of our last days in este pais tan bonito. Last time I wrote from the colonial and hot city of Cordoba. This last day we spent shopping in the little artistic shops in Nueva Cordoba, the neighbourhood where the students live and full of galleries, bars, art and boutiques. Really nice. Had a nice drink on a roof terrace and at the end we had to hurry back to our hotel (put all the things we bought in the already full backpack) and then to the busstation to catch our night bus to BA from 23 o clock. The first bus which did not left excatly on time but with half an hour of delay. Also no bingo, movie, wine, dinner or breakfast in this bus, but I have to admit I slept a little more then last time. But we were glad so glad to arrive in BA the next morning after 10 hours of bussitting and even more happy to be back home in "our" nice barrio of Palermo.
The B&B were we stayed our first days was udner construction, but now we stayed in a B&B in the opposite street, run by friends of Priscila & Javier. Also a really nice modern place. After a oh so welcome shower and breakfast (coffeeeee!!!) we hit the streets of Palermo and it was shop time again. Also here too many nice orginal artistic little stores (Holland can be boring sometimes indeed). Had dinner in the secret garden of our favourite restaurant 'el ultimo beso", accompanied with a good glass of Malbec of course :) Then more shopping and strolling and had dinner at another beauty "Lele de Troya". A restaurant with differents parts in different colours: deep red, sunny yellow, apple green and bright blue. really nice interior!
Our last day was Queensday. After a nice breakfast and tango talk with an English man from London who came to BA to teach tango (we suspect him to be very good if even the Argentinians invite him to their country to teach tango) and a surprise visit by Priscila (really nice to see her again), we shopped some more. In a store we met 2 Dutch girls who asked if we were also going to the party tonight. We were planning to go to a Dutch bar, but now they told us about the party it was our mission to get tickets as well. They also told us about the tragedy that happened in Holland. Really weird and bad! Went to the internet to see the news and to e-mail the Dutch guy who sold the tickets.
Visited to wonderful Evita museum. In this house she helped women and children who were abandoned by their husbands/fathers and also teenage mothers et cetera. pretty impressive what this lady has done for the country: making a special law with rights for elderly people and children, opened a nurse school, opened orphanages and houses for handicapped kids, organized childrens holiday camps and lots more good stuff. She was loved by the Argentinan people and they even proposed here to become vice president. She turned this offer down, probably because she was already ill. She died very young, at the age of 33 I believe. I bought her book, so I will be able to tell you more about her later on if you wish :)
Lunch time and still no e-mail from the Dutch party guy. There was only 1 phone nr, but for some strange reason we could not call this, no address either. So we decided to go to the club were the party would be held to check if they have a phone nr there. The guy of the bar did not had contact details but would be there around 19 o clock.
Went to the centre, about 25 minutes by subte. Wanted to see the "madres honorables" who used to be there each Thursday to honor their dissapeared childeren, but Priscila told us they did not do this abymore. Went more shopping and bought many havaianas... Had to hurry home, cause we had a reservation at 20:30 and still had to pack our backpacks. Were back at the hotel at 20:15 so no time for packing. We ate at a very good and famous parilla (steakhouse), so Nair and Mariluz could eat the good ARgentinan meat. But they also had nice veggies for me. Said goodbye to Javier, Priscilla and their kids and packed our backpacks. Finished at 24.15 and then it was finally party time!
Were did all these Dutch people came from? Good party, even with Andre Hazes presente. Went to bed to late and had to wake up too early to go to the airport....where a lot of people were wearing mouth caps and we received information about the Mexican flue.
Flight went well, except for the many kids in front of us, screaming, yelling and crying.. It was like a kindergarten... Not nice if you want to sleep...But also these 13 hours passed and then the flight Rome- Ams was peanuts...
Thanks for reading my stories.
Hasta la proxima!
Abrazo,
Chantal
